Mary Bieda, M.S.

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of South Carolina. Prior to moving to SC in 2008, I was a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of Maryland. My Bachelor’s Degree is in Psychology from the University of Hawaii and my Master’s of Science Degree is in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College of Maryland. In 2004 I completed a Trauma Certification Program from the University of Maryland and have continued to educate myself on the most current evidenced based therapies for treating traumatic stress. I have also had extensive training in the fields of mental health, addictions, and couple’s work.

For over 25 years I have been working with individuals, couples and groups. I generally employ psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies as well as body, mind, spirit approaches to help clients meet their goals. I am also trained in Energy Psychology and am a Certified EMDR Practitioner. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is often the recommended treatment of choice for many individuals who have experienced trauma or abuse.

Prior to moving to South Carolina, I was in private practice in Maryland and I was also the Clinical Director and Trauma Specialist for a women’s long term residential program for alcohol and drug dependency. I have a lot of experience working with chemically dependent clients and their families.

As a Pastoral Counselor, I am trained in both psychology and spirituality. In 2006 I was contracted by the Archdiocese of Baltimore to treat individuals who had been abused by clergy. I enjoy partnering with my clients as they navigate their way through crisis to renewed meaning.
